…waking up…
As the country prepares for one of the most pivotal elections we’ve had to date, I feel the need, now more than ever, to reiterate my continuing support for Hillary Clinton. Simply put, she is the best candidate we have for the role of President. Her experience and credentials speak for themselves, and she doesn’t need billowing inspirational rhetoric to convince people that she’s the better candidate–no, Americans just need to wake up out of the political vertigo that Obama has thrust us into.
I’ve said it time and time again, Barack Obama is a great candidate. He’s inspirational, personable, and oh yeah, he’s wet behind the ears. Did I also mention that the sole basis of his platform is change? That’s nice, but how, exactly, are you planning to accomplish this Mr. Obama? Throughout his entire campaign, Obama has left us in a cloud of hope, with little to no idea whatsoever as to where we’re off to next. Unfortunately, hope means nothing if we lack direction and a clear and cogent plan of action. You’ve given us political vertigo Mr. Obama, and while this certainly isn’t anything new, it is something we can ill afford in this, our time of crisis. Again, I don’t want inspirational rhetoric, I want to know exactly how your plan to address the growing problem with Social Security isn’t going to ultimately defeat itself and place the burden back on the shoulders of our younger generations? How do you really intend to pull this country out of a recession when it hits? Beyond inviting the leadership to have tea and scones with you, how do you really intend to broker peace in the Middle East? Lastly, what are you going to do for the LGBT community aside from refusing to stand beside us and deny us our human right to be treated equally and be allowed to marry? Hillary has already promised to make repealing “Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell”, parts of DoMA, and passage of ENDA a priority for her administration, but what are you going to do aside from treating myself and my community as tokenized 2nd class citizens just because of our sexual identity?
It’s time to wake up America! I know we’ve all heard Obama speak, but it’s time we listen to his words and see where he’s planning to lead us–nowhere. Too many times in our history, we’ve been swayed by empty promises and inspirational rhetoric. When will we learn our lesson and begin to make these candidates accountable to us and fulfill their promises? Currently, Obama is nothing more than a simple politician to me, incapable of leading a large country, let alone the free world. What we need now isn’t another politician or actor pretending he knows what he’s doing, what we, and the global community need is a statesman, and Hillary is just that.

Applause! I’ve been secretly campaigning for Hillary verbally, one gay guy to the next. I should add a blog entry of my own, but it’s essentially the same message of yours. Change doesn’t exist as hot air, it exists as fighting and countercharging on the floors of Congress & the White House.
great post ty, keep up the support!
Hi Ty – long time no blog. While I’m sure Senator Clinton would make a capable President, I’m going to disagree with your assertion that Senator Obama is all talk and no substance. Go to his website and download his Blueprint for Change (http://www.barackobama.com/issues/). It is a comprehensive and well-thought-out plan and was what convinced me that he has better overall plan than Senator Clinton.
Sure, just saying the magic word – “change” – doesn’t make things all better. Senator Clinton has been throwing that word around, too – because it is a word that reflects the feelings of the electorate. We’ve had twenty years of a Bush-Clinton duopoly, in which politics have risen to a new level of partisan nastiness. When you listen to the way Senator Clinton speaks – not her level of polish when giving speeches, just her choice of words – she continues to use the divisive ”us” and “them” vocabulary that stokes the fires of partisanship. Senator Obama – with more years of elective office than Senator Clinton – frames issues from the “we, together” perspective.
After the past twenty years of Bush-Clinton, both in domestic politics and international affairs, it is time for the leader of the free world to be someone who looks at things – and inspires others to look at things – through the lens of what we can accomplish together. Blame and accusation just isn’t enough anymore.
Thankfully, it is a free country and I’ll defend your right to your opinion to the death. But Senator Obama earned my vote for the above reasons.
Hope you’re doing well!
Spread the love, girl!
Well since I am within striking distance of Eric I shall keep my voice down, but all I can say is as long as the republicans are no longer in control, it will be a marked improvement from where things are now, but yeah I agree I hope Hillary gets her lead back and soon…
Better than desperate-will-do-anything-to-win Hillary
hey ty. interesting post. while i see your point, i think that hillary supporters need to come out and support harder. from what it appears to me (and from various thoughts from friends), i think a lot of people are on the obama side b/c they feel like he’s the popular of the two candidates. (wow, sounds like high school all over again.) so, i think hillary needs to finish really strong to keep her hat in the race right now.
anyways, what’s up with dinner plans? if y’all are going to drag me into SF for food, it had better be good.
