…jittery…
Wow, what a first day! So I didn’t get a wink of sleep last night. I’m still not sure whether it was the jetlag or because I was nervous. Whatever it was though, it wasn’t good because I didn’t get any rest whatsoever. To top it all off, I couldn’t find my black dress shoes this morning, so eventually had to settle for my brown ones because I was running late already. I was supposed to be out of the house at 7:30 am so I could give myself plenty of time to get to work and not be late, but of course, I didn’t plan well enough ahead and the whole shoe fiasco set me back an extra 15 minutes, so I wound up being late. Wait though, here’s the doozy! So as I’m running out the door, I pause for a slight moment thinking I should bring some food to eat because I was really hungry, or at least bring some water because I was thirsty, but I decide against turning back. I hope on the N-Judah and I’m starting to feel lightheaded and sick to my stomach. We get to the UCSF stop and I rush out the door and proceed to dry heave–not fun with the whole N-Judah looking on. I finish up my business and am able to hop back on the muni because people were taking so long to board. I get back on because I think I’m feeling better, but alas, I have to get off on the next stop. I just couldn’t do it; I just wasn’t feeling good at all. I went to the corner coffee house and bought some OJ and a cookie to help me regain my energy. The OJ helped a lot and I was able to get myself on the next train bound for downtown. I got there about 20 minutes late, but they had just started, so I wasn’t too late. Everyone was really cool all day, but I barely had any time to breathe. I found out that one of my teammates was going to be leaving the firm on the first of the month, so I would have to take over all of her cases, not fun. I got my cubicle and what not though, and I’ve already got two cases under my belt. I had to stay after for about an hour to take care of some of my administrative tasks, but it was all good. I set up my voicemail and started sifting through my email, but there was too much left to do, so I just left it and figured I’d do it tomorrow. I’m still not all better yet, but man, what a rough way to start out your first day huh? On top of all this, the shoes I grabbed also hadn’t been broken in yet, so it wound up digging into my ankles–yes, pain. All in all, it was quite an eventful day, but I’m pooped out now and am about to pass out. I’ll just wake up early tomorrow morning to get my stuff together for work. I’m going to decorate my cubicle and make it feel more like home, haha. Feel free to send me things to post up to remind me of you! Alright, I’m exhausted so I’m going to crash for the evening, but I’ll give a better picture of my work tomorrow. Nyyyyyyyght!
