  • …in the blink of an eye…

    12.27.05

Geez, the year is almost over and I don’t even know where it all went. I think it’s because so much was happening that I really didn’t get much time to really take it all in, perhaps now would be a good time to reflect on it all, well, maybe just the important parts, haha…

I can honestly say that in my 23 years of life, I’ve never really lived until now. I started the year off in a completely different country, not to mention continent, and from there, life as I knew it, began–well, the next chapter of it at least. Not only was I finishing up my last semester of college, but in the process of doing so, I was able to see the world and meet world-class friends at that. From Asia, next came Europe and an experience in every country I visited. It was an amazing experience, but not one that I will ever do again anytime soon, haha. I finally graduated from Berkeley, was fortunate enough to have met Paul, finished up my stint at Cal Performances, started up at the Greenlining Institute, went back to Asia another couple of times, and here I am, at the end of the year, reflecting back on it all…

I left the States because I needed a change, tabula rasa I suppose. I was nearing the end of my college career and I needed to figure out what I wanted to do with my life next. Although I still haven’t quite figured out what I want to do with my life next, I do know that I am happy, and for now, that’s more than enough. It’s interesting, a couple of my friends asked me what I wanted for Christmas this year. I thought about it, and I just couldn’t think of anything; I guess this is when you know that life is good…

I spent Christmas day with my family at my aunt’s place in El Monte this year. It was a pretty relaxed gathering as usual. We didn’t really do much, but it was just nice hanging out with each other again. Afterwards, I headed over to Paul’s family gathering. It was completely different from my family’s, especially in size, haha. I got to meet almost all of his family including all his titas, titos, kuyas, and ates. They were all so warm and nice, it was a really cool how welcoming they were. Katrina’s mom even thought she remembered me from a past meeting up in SF, but Katrina quickly came to my rescue and corrected her mom, haha. After the party, all the cousins and I went to see Narnia. the movie was good and it was really cool getting to know a couple of them a little more. I got to talk to Anthony, Katrina, and Pia and learn a little more about them. Normally, I’m pretty bad with names, but I think I managed to remember all the names of all the cousins. How I did it, I don’t quite remember, but I guess all that matters is that I was able to do it, haha. Yeah, you can test me on it babe, haha. :D

I was having dinner with Herb, Ritchie, and Tommy tonight and we got to reminiscing about college again. It was interesting to see how far we had all come in the past several years. We’ve all grown so much, and yet, were still the same people we knew each other to be when we all first met. I wonder what we’ll be like when we’re all 30 or so, that’s not too far from now, only another 7 years…
